Low atmospheric pressure over the north-west Bay of Bengal has concentrated into a deep depression and lay centrered at about 70 km south east of Balasore in Orissa, Cyclone Warning Centre said in Bhubaneswar.
The system which had centred at a place 170 km from southeast of Balasore coast at about 10 am, moved 100 km by 1 pm, the centre said adding the system was likely to move in a north north-westerly direction and cross West Bengal coast near Digha by Saturday evening.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in some coastal areas and thundershowers over most places of the state.
Rainfall amounting more than 25 cm is likely to occur at a few places over coastal Orissa and isolated places over interior parts of the state during the next two days, while squally wind from westerly direction with speed up to 65 kmph is expected along the coastal areas.
Sea condition would be rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
