New Delhi:
Security was stepped up at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday evening following an anonymous threat call to Air India about the presence of a bomb. No specific flight, though, was mentioned in the call, which turned out to be a hoax.
The entire airport was sanitised after the threat call. The bomb threat assessment committee oversaw the search operations.
Stricter checks including frisking of passengers and baggage was also stepped up at the airport, and other airlines were also alerted.
"We have strengthened the security. We have sanitised the airport," a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official said.
Airport officials said flight operations were normal.
