Delhi Coronavirus Cases: Delhi has recorded over 6.6 lakh cases of coronavirus so far.
Passengers at Delhi Airport - arriving from states witnessing a Covid surge - will be tested randomly and "those found positive shall be mandatorily quarantined," the government has said. The move will be followed next at railway and bus stations.

"Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) shall conduct random COVID-19 testing of passengers coming from the states where the cases are increasing," read a statement tweeted today by the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).
After collection of samples, the travellers will be allowed to exit. However, "those passengers who are found positive shall be mandatorily quarantined at their place of stay" or a hospital for 10 days, as per the Health Ministry protocols, the statement issued last week by the DDMA elaborated. In the notice, the government had warned of strict action if people are found violating Covid protocols.
The national capital is yet again witnessing a surge in coronavirus cases amid an emergent second Covid wave in other parts of the country. With spike in cases, stricter steps are being enforced yet again by the government.
Delhi's Covid tally surged to 6,60,611 total cases after 995 new infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry data this morning showed.
Some hospitals in the city have already started running out of beds amid a steady rise in infections.
Yesterday, the centre, referring to spike in cases, said the situation in India is "going from bad to worse". "Trends show the virus is still very active just when we think we can control it, it sparks back," said VK Paul, chairman of the National Expert Committee on Vaccine Administration.
States are being told to enforce Covid-appropriate behaviour -- "Use the law, use fine... people need to wear a mask," he said.
Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri yesterday reminded in a tweet: "Our fight against COVID continues. Advisory issued to all airports to ensure compliance of COVID19 Protocol. People must wear face masks (covering nose & mouth)& maintain social distance. We are moving in direction of punitive action by police against passengers who don't comply. (sic)".
This morning, India recorded 53,480 fresh cases taking the tally to 1.21 crore total cases; 1,62,468 deaths have been recorded so far.
Several states including Delhi had last week banned public gatherings on Holi and other festivals to check the spread of virus.
