New Delhi:
Commonwealth 2010-host Delhi now has its own logo and theme song 'Dilli Meri Jaan, Dilli Meri Shaan'.
Unveiling the logo and theme song 40 days ahead of the Games extravaganza, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit could not hide her excitement and danced with the band, which composed and sang the song.
The theme song 'Dilli Meri Jaan, Dilli Meri Shaan' (Delhi my life, Delhi my pride) is sung by Dr Palash Sen and the lyrics has been penned by him and Dahila Sen Oberoi.
The logo 'Delhi celebrates', has a mix of both Hindi and English and is combination of a mix of bright colours.
With Delhi inscribed in Hindi and Celebrates in English, the logo can be downloaded from the Delhi Tourism Department's website and can be used by the general public.
"I hope the song will be liked and enjoyed by the youth, old and college students. It speaks about the city of Delhi and the song has been sung by a Delhiite," Dikshit said.
She sang the first four lines of the four-minute song and even joined the band and danced with them for a while.
She said public can now hear the song on FM channels and soon a video version will also be released. The song will also be available as ringtones and caller tunes on mobiles to reinforce identification of the people with their city.
Sen showered praises on Dikshit for her interest and enthusiasm in making this song a reality. "I thank her a lot. She was very much interested in this song," he said.
Delhi Tourism Managing Director Reena Ray said Delhi will come alive with cultural programmes by eminent personalities from September 3 to November 4.
"From Javed Akhtar to Kailash Kher to Shabana Azmi, the festivals will have the best of the personalities," she said.
Ray said the Delhi celebrates logo should not be confined to use only by the government, by every Delhiite.
