New Delhi: After the Supreme Court judges decided to make their assets public, now judges from Delhi and Kerala High Courts have agreed to declare their assets.
The government had refrained from commenting on whether the HC judges will toe the line adopted by the Supreme Court judges, with Law Minister Veerappa Moily saying "Judges are the best judge".
Earlier, the apex court had said that its website will show the breakdown of assets for each judge, and every time a judge acquires a new asset, his net worth will be updated.
The government is believed to be relieved with the Supreme Court's decision, which ends a bitter confrontation between Parliament and the judiciary.
After the SC judges' decision, the government will now introduce a comprehensive bill for judicial accountability, which will include the disclosure of judges' assets.
