Delhi: Mercury rises to season's highest

New Delhi: The people of Delhi continued to feel the summer heat for another day on Saturday with the mercury settling at a maximum of 41 degree Celsius, the season's hottest day so far.

The mercury went past the 40-degree mark for the first time on April 22 when the maximum touched 40.2 degree Celsius.

Saturday's maximum is three notches above normal temperature and the Met Department predicted another hot day on Sunday with mercury hovering around 41 degrees. On Friday, the maximum was 40 degrees.

The minimum was recorded at 24 degree Celsius, two degrees above normal, as against Friday's 22 degrees, the weatherman said.

A senior Met Department official said April this year was comparatively cooler than last year.

",Temperature normally crosses 40 degrees in the first week of April itself. But this was not the case this year as there was some thunder shower activity during that time,", he said.
