Delhi Police To Question Sacked AAP Minister Sandeep Kumar Over Sex Tape

Delhi Police have formed a team to probe allegations against Sandeep Kumar, who will be questioned.

New Delhi: Sandeep Kumar, sacked as Delhi minister by Arvind Kejriwal over a sex scandal, will be investigated by a special team of the Delhi Police.

The move comes a day after senior BJP leaders protested against Mr Kumar for "misusing public authority against women."

On Wednesday, Mr Kumar was sacked by the Chief Minister after a nine-minute long video surfaced which allegedly showed the former Women and Child Development Minister in a compromising position with two women.

The police team, which includes officers from the elite crime branch, may not however question Mr Kumar anytime soon.

According to sources, the team will first question Omprakash, the person who is alleged to have released the video to the media. Allegations linking Om Prakash with the Congress party are also being investigated.

The police are also trying to establish who the two women seen in the video are and whether they agreed to being filmed.

"If there is any angle of blackmail, which comes out in the probe, we will see if they want to file an official complaint. We will be questioning the MLA (Mr Kumar) on all these angles. Which is why he will be questioned last," a senior police official told NDTV.

After sacking Mr Kumar, Mr Kejriwal had said in a video statement that "he (Mr Kumar) betrayed the Aam Aadmi Party and our movement." He added that his party "will never compromise on core values; we prefer to die than tolerate wrongdoings."

Mr Kumar has denied allegations against him, saying that he is not the man in the video.

"I am being targeted because I am a Dalit," Mr Kumar said.
