Delhi polls: Celebrations outside Harsh Vardhan's house
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janta Party members began celebrations here at the party's chief ministerial candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan's house as the BJP took early leads in 32 of the 70 assembly seats.

BJP party workers gathered at Dr Vardhan's E-8A/14, Krishna Nagar residence in east Delhi as trends indicated an early lead in an otherwise three-way contest with the incumbent Congress heading towards a debacle.

Athough Dr Vardhan did not come out of his two-storeyed house, supporters burst crackers, shouted slogans and distributed sweets outside his residence.

An aide told IANS that the BJP leader was watching television and seeing the poll results.

Trends also showed that Dr Vardhan was headed for a straight fifth term win from the Krishna Nagar constituency.

Dr Vardhan was leading with 26,384, while his Congress rival VK Monga, also a doctor, was at 11,766. AAP candidate Ishrat Ali Ansari got 7,448 votes.

As per the trends, the BJP was leading in 32 constituencies whereas the Aam Aadmi Party was set for spectacular debut with leads on 25 seats. The ruling Congress was ahead in just nine.
