A SpiceJet flight flying from Delhi to Pune is being searched after a phone call claimed that there was a bomb on the plane. The plane was supposed to take off from Delhi's IGI Airport at 6.30 pm today.
On receiving the call about the bomb threat, airline officials halted the boarding and called the bomb squad. All the passengers and crew members are safe and the aircraft is being searched.
Authorities haven't found anything suspicious yet.
Paramilitary force CISF and Delhi police are also on standby.
"Officials of the CISF and the Delhi Police are on alert. We were informed by authorities regarding a call they received where the caller said there was a bomb in the Pune-bound SpiceJet plane," a senior police officer told news agency PTI.
"The plane is being checked but nothing suspicious has so far been found. However, we are following the security drill in accordance with our standard operating procedure," the officer added.
Authorities are also trying to trace the caller and ascertain if it was a hoax call.
