A five-year-old speech and hearing impaired child was reunited with his family in Delhi, hours after he went missing, with the help of a coronavirus volunteer.
A junior cop, Ravi, was on duty when he found the five-year-old crying on a road in southeast Delhi's Kalindi Kunj on Wednesday. The child had apparently lost his way while playing in his locality after darkness fell.
When the cop found that the child was speech and hearing impaired, he informed his seniors. Teams were formed to trace the child's parents, news agency PTI reported.
Photographs of the child were shared on different WhatsApp groups and with COVID-19 volunteers, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) RP Meena said. Announcements were also made in nearby areas, said officials.
A COVID-19 volunteer - Amit Awasthi - helped trace the child's parents and he was reunited with the family, RP Meena said.
The boy's father works as auto driver and the family live in Madanpur Khadar locality of Kalindi Kunj.
