With less than two months to go for the Commonwealth Games, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is worried that the unfinished work at sites is contributing to the spread of dengue in the capital.
The number of dengue cases is highest in the last six years.
Today, Ghulam Nabi Azad blamed the CWG sites and heavy rain for dengue.
"The presence of dengue and water are strongly related. Delhi is already dug up because of the CWG and it is also raining very heavily. Since water remains stored in many places, it becomes a breeding place for mosquitoes which are contributing to diseases" said Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Delhi on Saturday recorded the highest single-day incidence of dengue this season with 36 more patients testing positive for the disease, taking the total cases to 384.
According to statistics released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the number of cases till this time in 2009 was only three. The figure was 55 and 12 in the same periods in 2008 and 2007 respectively.
