Dense Fog Affects Life In Jammu, Sun Shines In Kashmir

Jammu/Srinagar: Dense fog for the fourth consecutive day, adversely affected life in Jammu city.

All morning flights to Jammu airport were rescheduled as no flight could land here due to poor visibility.

Motorists had a tough time negotiating passage on densely fogged roads in Jammu city.

The maximum temperature in Jammu city is likely to hover around 11 degrees Celsius today, two degrees less than the season's average.

Due to heavy fog which is likely to settle around noon today, the maximum temperature in Jammu city will hover around 11 degrees, a Met official said.

"This will be two degrees less than what we are expecting in Srinagar city today(13 degrees)," the official said.

"The minimum temperature was 2.2 degrees Celsius in Jammu city today while it was 4.6 degrees Celsius in Katra, 1.7 degrees Celsius in Batote, minus 0.8 degrees Celsius in Bannihal, minus 0.1 in Bhaderwah and 0.1 degrees Celsius in Udhampur town."

In contrast to the weather in Jammu, bright sunshine greeted people in Kashmir Valley.

The minimum temperature was minus five degrees Celsius in Srinagar, minus 6.7 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam and minus 4.5 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg today.

In Ladakh region of the state, Leh town recorded minus 16.2 degrees Celsius while Kargil town recorded minus 14.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature today.

The weather office has forecast cold and dry weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir till January 27.
