Dense fog in North India hampers train movement

New Delhi: Dense fog over parts of North India hampered train movement on Saturday, with scores of trains bound for Delhi arriving several hours behind schedule and departure timings of some being revised.

The worst affected were the trains coming from the Eastern states, with Bhubaneswar Rajdhani running late by 15 hours. The train has been rescheduled to leave at 7 am on Sunday.

Other trains such as Mahananda Express, Farakka Express, Jaliwanlalabagh Express and Jansadharan Express were running late by over 20 hours, said a Northern Railway spokesperson.

Railways have cancelled over 30 trains since the first of this month in view of the prevailing foggy weather conditions.

Passengers have been advised to check latest status of their train by dialling the enquiry number 139 or visit the Railways website or New Delhi fog helpline number 011-23747110.
