Development is the agenda in Bihar: Rahul

Aurangabad:

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi kicked off his campaign from Bihar where the party has decided to go it alone after being dumped by allies RJD and the LJP.

Rahul appealed to the people to vote for the Congress and its only agenda was development.

"Nikhil Kumar is from Aurangabad and he is your Congress candidate. Please vote for the Congress," said Rahul.

It was Rahul Gandhi's straight and simple appeal to the voters of Aurangabad in Bihar. But with both Lalu Prasad's RJD and Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP now snapping at Congress' heels, how far can the party go?

Aurangabad is one of the three Lok Sabha seats across Bihar where the Congress won in the last elections. But this time around, things are a bit more complicated. There is no tie up with the RJD, which means that Lalu's party has also put up a candidate in the constituency.

It was Rahul's idea to fight all 40 seats in Bihar. The logic - this is the only way to revive the party. Rahul doesn't mention the rift with Lalu at the rally. Development is the only agenda, but there are not too many takers, even among ardent supporters.

"Votes will be split again between the RJD and the Congress. And it will be a disadvantage for the Congress candidate," said Mohammad Shameen, a student.

Rahul Gandhi has to work really hard at his magic in Bihar.
