Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' 13-day-old BJP government has won a trust vote in the state Assembly.
A day after controversial trust vote, Shiv Sena editorial slams the BJP:- Not just Maharashtra but India saw how rules and tradition were violated to win the trust vote
- Their promise to run a clean government have been exposed by the way Constitution violations were committed
- Their hypocrisy has been exposed
- It's not in the interest of democracy to strangle these traditional processes
- When Opposition asked for a count of votes why was a voice vote allowed? Why did the Speaker turn down the Sena's demand for a division of votes?
- Why could the government not prove their claims of a majority on the floor of the House?
- Was it to cover up the fact that the they had the support of a corrupt party the reason behind this?
- The government must answer these questions. Maharashtra wants these answers.
- Even if we were late in our demand to seek a vote count, the government should have allowed it as they were so confident of proving their majority
- The government has failed to prove their majority and must answer
- Those who crush the Constitution to win the vote of confidence, can they win the the people's trust?
- They have lost the moral right to govern on day 1 itself.
- Those who want to stay in power by corrupt practices should no longer assure good governance
- Through the scam of a voice vote they may have proved their majority but it is not a majority, nor we or law-abiding citizens will accept this
- There is no repentance for the sin of betraying the people's confidence
- You may have got a six month extension but have lost the people's trust
