Bangalore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged students to devote 100 hours every year towards making India clean.

Speaking at the Siddaganga Mutt in Karnataka's Tumkur district, PM Modi urged students to honour the country's space scientists with a standing ovation after India's Mars orbiter, Mangalyaan entered the Red Planet's orbit earlier in the day.

He described the day as "Mangal-Parv" (auspicious moment), referring to the success of Mangalyaan.

The Prime Minister also asked students and scholars of Sanskrit, present in the gathering, to spread the message and knowledge of India's ancient shastras (texts), among people.
