New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag and BJP president Amit Shah were among the many public personalities who took to twitter on Friday to greet the nation on Dhanteras or the festival of wealth.

It is observed all over India and in neighbouring Nepal. It also marks the beginning of the five-day Tihar festival in some North-eastern states.
The festival falls on the thirteenth lunar day of Kartik month of Saka calendar (October-November), marking the first day of the Diwali celebrations.
