DHD(J) chief Jewel Gorlosa remains masked

Guwahati:

Four days after his arrest, Jewel Garlosa -- one of the most wanted men in the country today -- is still behind a mask.

"The man was spending Rs 55,000 in body clinics, in anti ageing, beautification, facelifts etc," said Assam DGP G M Srivastava.

But Garlosa's arrest is expected to impact the terror run in the hills where the Centre has set a month's deadline to resolve the crisis.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun working on its first assignment of investigating the nexus between militants and government functionaries in North Cachar Hills.

"Now things are leading to things beyond the state of Assam even to foreign countries so it will be easier for the national body to investigate," Srivastava said.

Following a few quick arrests and encounters by security forces, there's an uneasy calm in the hills but the DHD(J) is expected to retaliate.

And with the government making it clear that the option of ceasefire with DHD(J) is not relevant any longer, it is going to be a long summer of combat in the North Cachar Hills of Assam.
