Did BJP write Tarun Tejpal's emails, asks Goa Chief Minister: Highlights

Goa Chief Minsiter Manohar Parrikar addresses press conference

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar speaks on Tehelka case.

Below are the highlights:

The state government will ask the police to ensure speedy investigation.

Don't have time, patience or inclination to take hourly reports on probe.

Incident is not of BJP's doing, govt didn't write email, then recuse for 6 months.

The BJP is not involved in the incident. We did not write the e-mails. If there is a crime, we have to investigate. We have not summoned him, he's saying all this for bail.

Does Tejpal accept that he is a Congress stooge?

I have asked police not to accept any pressure from any quarters.

I am not before you as a BJP leader but as the chief minister of this state. My job is to ensure that justice is carried out.

I wonder what that girl is feeling, not easy for anyone to come out so openly.

Positive outcome of a sad incident - Nirbhaya case - many girls are coming out against crimes against them.

Sushma Swaraj's views does not influence the state government... no BJP, Congress leaders' views influence us.

Girl's statement under Section 164 is being recorded, Goa Police under no pressure.

Many fast-track courts in Goa, no need to form a new one  for this case.

Police here seems to have used their knowledge about law, they are collecting evidence first.

Sanyaas for 6 months is unheard of... this 6-month sanyaas was a product of his guilt conscience.

Shoma Chaudhury had also initially stated that she won't cooperate with investigators.

When he held the function, when he wrote e-mail or took sanyaas, he did not realise there is a BJP government in Goa.

Some advocate must have told him he is falling into the trap of his own making... maybe his Congress friends advised him aap khadde me jaa rahe ho..sambhalo abhi.

I don't interfere with investigations, investigating officer decides who should be questioned, summoned... I was told what is going on, so I am aware.
