Did Himachal CM order phone tapping?

New Delhi: A compact disc could cause a political storm in Himachal Pradesh. The audio CD has a conversation between two people, allegedly Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and the state's Director General of Vigilance D S Manhas.

There is, however, no independent verification of the voices in the CD being that of Dhumal and Manhas.

The voice purported to be that of Dhumal asks the other person to tap the phones of Union Steel Minister and former Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh and his wife.

Both are also heard talking about a sum of Rs 25 crore which the voice said to be that of Dhumal asks the other person to keep.

Speaking to NDTV, Dhumal said that he never tapped any phones. (Watch: I did not ask for any phone taps: Dhumal)

DGP Vigilance DS Manhas, when contacted said, "there are rumours of a CD doing the rounds but since I have not seen or heard anything on such a disc, I'm not in a position to comment upon it."
