New Delhi: Suresh Kalmadi is back in town after the Asian Games in China. And he confidently declared on Monday that he had done nothing wrong.
"I am here only, some channels are saying I am missing but I am right here. I have done nothing wrong," he said.
But his troubles may just be starting. The CBI is finalising its arguments to oppose the bail of Kalmadi's two close aides in the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee - T S Darbari and Sanjay Mahendroo on Tuesday.
Sources say the investigating agency is also collating evidence on Kalmadi. They say that during raids at Darbari's residence, the CBI found a letter which shows how close Kalmadi and Darbari really are.
In the letter, Kalmadi wrote to the Urban Development Secretary asking for a ground floor flat for Darbari's wife, Neelam.
He wrote that Neelam, a 1987 batch IAS officer, had a D-1 first floor flat in Delhi but would like a ground floor one instead.
It looks likely that Suresh Kalmadi will be questioned, but the CBI has not revealed when. Meanwhile, Kalmadi has requested Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to be allowed to make a statement in the House.
