With the Assembly elections in her home state scheduled for next year, the Railways Minister offered much to Bengal in her budget.
The Kolkata Metro will be extended on priority. In the pipeline is a railway research centre in Kharagpur. Also, a diesel plant in the state if land is found for it, but making a political point here, Mamata Banerjee stressed that land for this project will not be forcibly acquired. She's also announced new museums on Rabindranath Tagore.
