Digvijay hurt in lathicharge; Cong demands judicial probe
Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh):

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh got hurt after the police lathicharged the protest rally that he was leading in his home town Rajgarh.

The senior Congress leader has been taken to a hospital after suffering head injury. Eyewitness say that the leader was bleeding profusely after getting caught in a crossfire between the crowd and the police. However, it is still not confirmed how serious the injury is.

There is no official confirmation on the incident as yet. The rally was supposedly against alleged false cases against few Congress leaders.

The crowd in the rally went unruly, and the police had to fire teargas. And later, the police resorted to lathicharge wherein the senior Congress leader got injured.

PTI adds:

The Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi and senior Congress leader Manak Agrawal on Tuesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.

In a joint statement, the two said that there was no way in which such an incident can be allowed to happen.

They said that the incident would have serious repercussions and added that the state government should now be ready to face its consequences.
