Saidnagar, Uttar Pradesh:
Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Thursday alleged that BJP leader LK Advani and his party had "stoked communal hatred" and were responsible for "encouraging terrorism" in the country. Reacting to his comments, the party said they have now stopped taking him seriously.
"BJP and LK Advani are responsible for encouraging terrorism in the country. They stoke communal hatred and blame the minority community," Singh said addressing a rally in Saidnagar village in Uttar Pradesh.
Hitting back at Mr Digvijaya for his comments, BJP leader Chandan Mitra said, "We long ceased taking Mr Digvijaya Singh seriously. At one point, Mr Anna Hazare suggested a remedy. I will not repeat it. But everybody knows where Mr Digvijaya Singh should be lodged. I will endorse that. He is doing this to stay in news."
Mr Advani, however, refused to comment, saying, "I don't feel like making any comment on him."
The AICC incharge of UP, who has been attacking Team Anna, also claimed at the rally that Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev "are products of RSS".
Attacking the Mayawati government, he alleged that the state government was patronising land mafia and black marketeers in Uttar Pradesh.
"Put a BSP flag and grab land is the norm of the day," Singh said.
He claimed that only two litres of kerosene was being distributed to every ration card holder in the state in place of five litres allotted by the Centre. "The rest of it is being sold to black marketers," the Congress leader alleged. (with PTI Inputs)
