Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Thursday attacked the Centre for releasing Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar in 1999 during BJP-led NDA government's regime.
In a tweet, Mr Singh, said, "Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, your BJP government handed over Mazoor Azhar to Taliban and also gave million dollars to them. Would you say something on this."
He also asked Union Minister Prasad to question Prime Minister and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval over the intelligence failure in the Pulwama terror attacks.
"Have you questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NSA about the Gross intelligence Failure during the Pulwama attack because of which 44 CRPF personnel lost their lives. If your BJP government had not released Jaish-e-Mohammed chief MasoodAzhar during the Kandhar hijack, the attack on the Parliament in 2002 and the Pulwama attack could have been averted," Mr Singh said in his next tweet.
The 71-year-old former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister had earlier sparked a controversy for terming Pulwama terror attack "an accident". "The Pulwama "durghatna" (accident) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) strike, "sandeh" (doubt) is being expressed in some foreign media reports following which "vishwasniyata" (credibility) of the government is under question," he had tweeted.
In another tweet, he had questioned the outcome of the air strike and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come clear.
"Prime Minister, some ministers of your government say 300 terrorists killed, BJP president says 250 are killed, Yogi Adityanath says 400 people were killed and your minister SS Ahluwalia says that no one died. And you are silent about this issue. The country wants to know who is a liar here," he had said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had slammed him for saying this and had said that such statements reflect the "mentality" of his party. "The party that ruled our country for decades is now questioning the ability of our brave forces. Today, a leader from Madhya Pradesh said that the Pulwama terror attack was an accident.This is their mentality...," he had said.
Mr Singh had earlier also alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir administration had intelligence inputs of an impending improvised explosive device (IED) attack six days prior to the Pulwama terror attack, but the central government didn't take any action to prevent it.
