Dinakaran case: Mayawati wants PM to intervene

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention in Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran case.

In her letter, Mayawati has said that Justice Dinakaran should be allowed to present his case as otherwise it will be against principles of natural justice.

The noose is tightening around Justice Dinakaran as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Hamid Ansari admitted impeachment motion against the Karnataka Chief Justice on Thursday.

The Supreme Court collegium had earlier dropped Dinakaran's name from the list of those being elevated to the Supreme Court. Also, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) advised Justice Dinakaran not to perform judicial work.

Earlier, 75 MPs had submitted motion against Justice Dinakaran in the upper House of Parliament.
