New Delhi:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday informed the Supreme Court that it will consider Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's plea for dropping the disproportionate assets case against her.
Mayawati had on April 20 told the CBI that she had been cleared by Income-Tax authorities and all the money she received as gifts were genuine.
This could be potential good news for the Uttar Pradesh chief minister at a time when her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has kept its options open on whether to support the government on a cut motion in Parliament.
