Ms Premalatha allegedly made the controversial remark during a public meeting she addressed in Tirunelveli recently, police said.

According to Police, Ms Premalatha, in a veiled reference to DMK and AIADMK, allegedly told the gathering "some political parties will offer to give Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per vote. You ask them Rs one lakh per vote".

DMDK is contesting the May 16 elections in alliance with four-party People's Welfare Front with Vijayakant declared as the chief ministerial candidate.
