Chennai: DMK party chief M Karunanidhi on Tuesday held brief interactions with party MPs and MLAs on the issue of the Presidential election for which voting will take place on Thursday.
"The party has already decided about its support to UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee. Party MPs and MLAs were told about the ways to implement this (by way of voting for him)," Mr Karunanidhi said after the party meeting.
DMK was one of the first UPA constituents to back the former Union Finance Minister. After being officially nominated, Mr Mukherjee started his presidential campaign from Tamil Nadu where Mr Karunanidhi hosted a dinner for him.
DMK has 18 Lok Sabha and seven Rajya Sabha MPs besides 23 MLAs in the state Assembly.
