DMK insecure over Rahul's Tamil Nadu visit?

DMK insecure over Rahul's Tamil Nadu visit?
Chennai: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi ends his three-day tour of Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening. On the last day of his tour, he is slated to visit Thanjavur, Villupuram, Vellore and Chennai.

Rahul will interact with young farmers, students, editors and youth Congress workers.

On Wednesday, Rahul had met fishermen, members of women self-help groups, Dalits and youth Congress workers in the southern districts.

Following the Rahul effect in the recent Lok Sabha polls, especially the UP turnaround, this is seen as his attempt to strengthen the party in the state where it has been out of power for over four decades.

Meanwhile, Rahul's visit doesn't seem to have gone down well with his party's ally, the ruling DMK. The party is apparently miffed that Rahul Gandhi, who is on a three-day tour of Tamil Nadu has not met, and has no plans to meet DMK chief Karunanidhi.

Speaking at a marriage ceremony, DMK chief Karunanidhi recalled the party's struggle during the emergency. This is being seen as an oblique reference to the talk of Congress rule in Tamil Nadu.
