New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today urged members not to show their intolerance in the house while taking part in the debate on the issue of intolerance and listen to the views of other members with patience.
In her remarks before the house took up the discussion under Rule 193, Ms Mahajan said that lawmakers provide leadership to people and hoped the discussion will go in the right direction.
"The country has some questions, hope the discussion will give a positive direction and that's why it has been acccepted," the Speaker said.
She hoped the members will understand their responsibility and "at least not show intolerance here".
Officials said that discussion in the house under Rule 193 does not entail voting.
