Do Unblock Me, Tweets Arvind Kejriwal. Unlikely, Says Kiran Bedi.

New Delhi: Politician Arvind Kejriwal has deployed two suggestions publicly for Kiran Bedi. Neither appears to have impressed the woman who is running against him for Chief Minister of Delhi.

"@thekiranbedi Kiranji, i used to follow u on twitter. Now, u have blocked me on twitter. Kindly unblock me," Mr Kejriwal tweeted this morning.

Ms Bedi made it pretty clear that's not going to happen. "I blocked him 15 months back when he called himself an anarchist. He was spreading negativity. Didn't want my four million followers to see negativity... it was a polluting account," the 65-year-old said today.

Ms Bedi, who joined the BJP last week and was announced as its presumptive Chief Minister last night, also made it clear that Mr Kejriwal's other wish - of a public debate with her on issues important for Delhi - isn't going to materialise. Not till after the election, anyway. "Arvind believes only in debates whereas I believe in delivery of services. I will debate with him on the floor of the House," she said.

Ms Bedi was the country's first woman IPS officer; after a sterling career in the police, she turned to activism. Like Mr Kejriwal, who is 46, she was one of the main drivers of the India Against Corruption campaign that was fronted by Gandhian Anna Hazare and brought middle class India to street protests in 2011, demanding tougher anti-corruption laws at a time when the previous Congress-led government was gangling through rows of oversize scams.

Mr Kejriwal then formed the Aam Aadmi Party and in his first ever election, lassoed a result so impressive that he was able to form a minority government in Delhi. However, he resigned in 49 days, a move that he has since acknowledged as a huge mistake and regret. Early surveys show the BJP poised to win Delhi.
