New Delhi: Delhi Police today "requested" Team Anna to ensure that speakers at their protest site refrain from making "provocative" speeches so that the law and order situation in the capital is not disturbed.
A senior police official also dismissed allegations by some speakers that security personnel misbehaved with women while they were protesting outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence on Saturday.
"These allegations were false and we have advised Team Anna leaders to ensure that such provocative speeches were not made from the dais which could affect law and order situation," he said.
However, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said no letter had been sent to Vishwas. "We have sent a request to Neeraj of Team Anna, requesting him to ensure that no provocative speeches are made from the dais. It is not a notice. It is only a request letter," he said.
"They were very aggressive and could be removed from there only after great difficulty. It has also been noticed that Vishwas, a key functionary of India Against Corruption, made a provocative speech against the police from the dais.
It also said that there were also reports that some senior functionaries had briefed the media that snap demonstrations at the offices and residences of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and others would continue.
The letter also noted that Team Anna had given an undertaking to abide by the terms and conditions laid down by Supreme Court.
"Moreover, the speakers may be directed not to deliver inflammatory or such speeches which are based on unverified facts," the letter said.
