Santosh Pol, dubbed "Dr Death", has allegedly confessed to killing 6 people in Maharashtra's Satara
Satara:
Self-confessed killer medico Santosh Pol on Friday revealed that the body of the sixth victim -- Vanita N Gaikwad -- was also buried in his poultry farmhouse complex and not dumped in the Krishna river as he had earlier claimed, an official said.
Immediately after his revelations during interrogation, a police team took Santosh Pol to the farmhouse where he pinpointed the location of the 10-year-old grave in one congested corner on which a large fig tree now stands.
The fig tree and other obstacles prevented the police team from digging the spot and later a civic team was called which finally dug out a skeleton from the spot shown by Santosh Pol.
A team of forensic experts from Mumbai's KEM Hospital, which reached Wai on Thursday, is conducting tests on the skeleton to establish the victim's identity.
Incidentally, since Wednesday, police teams were scouring the Krishna river from Umbrej to Karad to trace out the body which he claimed was thrown in a reservoir on August 12, 2006.
Santosh Pol had killed Ms Gaikwad by administering her a lethal injection in an ambulance that day, a decade ago.
With this, the Maharashtra Police has recovered the bodies or skeletons of all the six victims Santosh Pol has admitted to killing over the past 13 years for different motives, including lust and money.
In a related development, a magistrate in Wai on Friday extended Pol's police custody by a week till August 25, the official said.
On August 15, Pol, 41, confessed to the cold-blooded killings of Surekha Kisan Chikane in 2003, Vanita Narhari Gaikwad in 2006, Jagabai Laxman Pol in 2010, Nathmal Dhanaji Bhandari in 2015, an orphan Salma Shaikh in January and an 'aanganwadi' worker Mangal Jedhe in June, both this year.
Moreover, three more missing persons cases are being probed by the police concerning Vilas Vishnu Dhage, 45, untraced since 2001; Dipali Krishna Sanas, 21, who disappeared in 2002; and Mahadeo Sonu Chikane, 47, who's been off-radar since 2012.
