New Delhi: A moderate intensity tremor shook parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today. No injury or casualty has been reported.
The epicentre of the tremor measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale was between Little Andaman and Car Nicobar, said Disaster Management Director Ashok Sharma.
The earthquake, which struck the island at 1.12 PM, had originated 10 km below the surface, he said.
Earlier this month, a quake measuring 8.6 in Indonesia was felt all over India, and prompted worries of a tsunami. Evacuations in parts of the Nicobar Islands were carried out as a precaution.
