New Delhi:
Addressing the Congress Plenary Session on Monday Home Minister P Chidambaram spoke on a range of issues, from good governance to fighting corruption to the PM's roadmap.
The Home Minister, in the beginning of his speech, praised Rahul Gandhi. "If you closed your eyes and heard his voice, you could hear strains of Rajiv Gandhi's voice 25 years ago."
After the PM, Chidambaram took on the BJP on the issue of corruption. He said, "We will deliver good governance and we will fight corruption."
The Home Minister said BJP is envious of Congress. "BJP angry that they lost elections in 2004, 2009," said Chidambaram.
"I have this to say to the BJP, over the next 10 years,
aap ka number nahi aayega," said the Home Minister. He added, "I have no doubt in mind, that in the next 10 years, Congress-ruled Government will be there in Delhi.
Chidambaram also commended PM's sober, far-sighted and statesman-like roadmap. "I will urge you to pay attention to that roadmap and build a country of our dreams.
He said that only Congress stands for job creating growth. He said, "Our goal is not jobless growth but job-creating growth."
The Home Minister also said that India is the second fastest growing economy in the world and has the capacity to overtake China.
