New Delhi:
With the message of inclusive electoral participation, the Election Commission today took part in the Republic Day parade with a tableau which showcased how men and material are deployed in various difficult terrains of the country to conduct polls.
This is for the second time the Commission has participated in the Republic Day parade with the first being in 2012.
The Election Commission came into being on January 25, 1950, a day before India became a constitutional democracy.
The front portion of tableau showcased people in various costumes representing the diversity of Indian population.
It also showcased Election Commission's 'National Voters' Service Portal', a digital platform to provide e-enabled services to the electorate.
The process of deployment of men and material in the difficult terrains during the electoral process was depicted in murals on either side of the tableau.
