Election Results 2023: BJP's Gamble Of Fielding MPs, Union Ministers - Winners And Losers

Election Results: Most of the BJP leaders were fielded on assembly seats where the party had lost in the last polls.

Assembly Election Results 2023: BJP fielded several MPs and Union ministers for four assembly polls

New Delhi:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded several MPs and Union ministers for the four assembly polls, the results of which were announced today. The majority of the BJP leaders, including three Union ministers who contested in Madhya Pradesh, were Lok Sabha members.

Most of these lawmakers were fielded on assembly seats where the party had lost in the last elections.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election Results 2023

BJP MP Narendra Singh Tomar, who was fielded from the Dimani constituency in the Morena district, won by 24,461 votes. He received 79,137 votes.

Prahlad Patel, the minister of state for food processing, contested from Narsingpur and won by a margin of 31,310 votes.

Faggan Singh Kulaste, the Minister for state for rural development, lost by 9,723 votes from Niwas, a seat reserved for scheduled tribes.

The BJP also fielded Rakesh Singh, the incumbent Jabalpur MP, from the Jabalpur-West assembly seat. He won by 30,134 votes.

Uday Pratap Singh, the sitting Member of Parliament from Hoshangabad, won by a margin of 56,529 votes from Gadarwara.

Riti Pathak, a Lok Sabha member who contested her first assembly election, won by over 30,000 votes from the Sidhi seat.

Ganesh Singh, a four-time Lok Sabha MP, was fielded from the Satna assembly seat, where he lost by 4,041 votes.

Rajasthan Assembly Election Results 2023

BJP's Jaipur Rural MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won by 50,167 votes from the Jhotwara constituency. 

Diya Kumari, the sitting MP from Rajsamand, secured 71,368 votes and won the Vidhyadhar Nagar seat in Jaipur.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena fought from Sawai Madhopur and won by a margin of 22,510 votes.

Alwar MP Baba Balaknath, who contested from the Tijara constituency, won by 6,173 votes.

Jhunjhunu MP Narendra Kumar, who was fielded from the Mandawa seat, lost by 18,717 votes. Congress leader Kumari Rita Chaudhary received 98,747 votes, while Mr Kumar got 80,030.

Ajmer MP Bhagirath Choudhary lost by 46,111 votes from Kishangarh. Jalore MP Devji Patel also lost from the Sanchore seat by 64,983 votes.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Election Results 2023

Lok Sabha MP Vijay Baghel, who was fielded against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from the Patan seat, lost by over 19,723 votes. While Bhupesh Baghel polled 95,438 votes, Vijay Baghel received 75,715.

Union minister Renuka Singh, who contested from Bharatpur-Sonhat, won by 4,919 votes.

Union minister Gomati Sai won by just 255 votes from Pathalgaon. While Ms Sai secured 82,320 votes, her closest rival Congress' Rampukar Singh Thakur received 82,065 votes.

BJP MP Arun Sao won by 45,891 votes.

Telangana Assembly Election Results 2023

BJP MP and ex-state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar lost to BRS rival Gangula Kamalakar Reddy by 3,163 votes. 

Nizamabad MP D Arvind lost to his BRS' Kalvakuntla Sanjay by over 10,000 votes. Adilabad Lok Sabha MP Soyam Bapurao lost to BRS' Anil Jadav.

The BJP's gamble mostly paid off in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh -- the three states where it is set to form the government -- as 12 of its 18 MPs won in these heartland states.

However, all three BJP MPs were defeated in Telangana, where the party could only manage to get eight seats.
