Election Results 2024 LIVE Updates: The alliance of the National Conference (NC) and Congress has won the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, which were the first assembly elections since 2014, first as a Union Territory and first after the removal of Article 370 which gave the erstwhile state special status. And in Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has created history by retaining the state for the record consecutive third term. The BJP has won 48 seats while the Congress has secured 37.
In J&K's 90 seats, the NC and Congress have won in 49, the BJP in 29 and the PDP in three. AAP's Mehraj Malik has handed the Arvind Kejriwal-led party its first-ever electoral win in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the BJP cadre at the party headquarters thanked the people of Haryana "for giving a clear majority to the Bharatiya Janata Party once again". "Lotus bloomed in Haryana," he said.
Congratulating the National Conference for its Jammu and Kashmir performance, asserted, "If we look at the vote share percentage, BJP has emerged as the biggest party in Jammu and Kashmir".
