Guwahati:
On day two of the BJP national executive committee meet in Guwahati, the party has come down heavily on the UPA government.
Attacking the Congress party over scams like 2G, Commonwealth Games, senior BJP leader L K Advani said that the national elections can be held before 2014. He also said that they have arrived at a political turning point and the party members should pledge that they will use this turning point as an opportunity.

"On 2G, Commonwealth Games - the repeated assertions of those who are accused, take the allegations to the doorsteps of the Prime Minister's Office," said Nirmala Sitharaman, Spokesperson, BJP.
Bringing Sonia Gandhi in the line of fire, BJP alleged that Ottavio Quattrocchi's involvement in the Bofors pay-offs case lead "directly to the doorstep" of the Congress chief.
"We think the way the kickbacks were given being very clearly established by the appellate authority identifying Ottavio Quattrocchi, who all of us know had enviable access to
the then Prime Minister (Rajiv Gandhi), takes this whole issue clearly to the doorstep of Shrimati Soniaji," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.
The political resolution adopted at the two-day national executive meeting of the BJP said the party resolves to fight corruption tooth and nail.
"To restore hope back to the people, the BJP shall rise to serve as the nucleus of this effort. We are a party born out of a struggle, not very long ago. People, groups, civil society organisations and parties wishing to energise this 'clean India of corruption' effort should come together," the party said in its political resolution," it said. The resolution, moved by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and seconded by her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley, made a scathing attack on the Gandhi family in the wake of the latest revelations made by the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal order.
The order had said that kick backs of Rs 61 crore were paid to late Win Chaddha and Quattrocchi in the Howitzer gun deal and that they are liable to pay tax in India on such
income.
"The Congress, particularly its first family is faced with the power of truth. Truth has the habit of coming up at inconvenient time. Misusing the CBI to undermine this case, each time and at every level, the party ensured that Ottavio Quattrocchi was enabled to flee the country," the party said.
It claimed that the Congress party had resolutely maintained that no kickbacks were paid and were closing the case against the controversial Italian businessman.
Party leaders also said that the assertions of former Telecom Minister A Raja and Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee that they had obtained "due clearances" for cost escalations, leads to the "doorsteps of the PMO".
On whether the BJP's demand for JPC into the 2-G issue meant that they will stall the budget session of Parliament, Sitharaman said, "We are very firm on the JPC demand. There is no change in our position."
When asked repeatedly whether the remark means that the main opposition has no plans to work in the budget session, she said, "We have not said that. We want a JPC." The resolution states that the more the documentary proof comes out, the more government tries to cover them up.
"Congress does corruption and then covers that up. 23 years in the Bofors case was being covered up till the last day that has come out now," she said.
BJP spokesperson faced a volley of questions related to party's Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who is facing charges of land scam, continuing in the office and
whether he was "bigger than the party's image".
"There is a judicial inquiry going on. The party is also looking into it. We have already said we will take a call," Sitharaman said.
Asked whether Gadkari's remarks on Saturday about BJP Chief Ministers, leaders and party-workers not doing anything which would tarnish the image of the party was aimed at
Yeddyurappa, she said the reference was general and not regarding any particular individual. (Read: UPA II 'kingdom of corruption: Gadkari)
She parried a question on whether the BJP was setting a new kind of precedent by allowing Yeddyurappa to continue when a judicial probe was on.
"The state government has given you enough inputs... which are self-explanatory. Today we are talking about tackling the issue of various scandals and scams of the UPA," she said.
