New Delhi:

An employee of the Delhi airport was injured on Friday when his hand got stuck in the conveyor belt.

The incident occurred at one of the departure counters where the employee, working for Delhi International Airport contractor, Keppel Brady, was on duty.

A spokesperson for GMR Infrastructure, which manages the airport, said that the "employee hurt his hand during routine maintenance work". He was attended by the airport doctor and rushed to the hospital later, the spokesperson said.

No further details of the incident were available.

This is the third incident that has happened at the Delhi airport in less than a month. An American Air plane was damaged last month when there was a malfunctioning of the electrical system. As a result of the malfunctioning, the aerobridge moved in a direction opposite to which it was to have moved, damaging the plane in the process. American Air had to cancel the outbound flight from Delhi after the incident.

In another incident last month, two firemen were killed and three others injured when the fire tender veered off its route and ran into a drain. The two firemen were testing a new, modern firefighting vehicle, which overturned after it fell into the stormwater drain. The incident happened on the new runway where traffic has been banned by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation because of inconvenience of the residents in the localities nearby.
