An abandoned Pakistani boat was found on Tuesday near border area in Punjab
Amritsar:
An abandoned Pakistani boat, which drifted towards the Indian side, was seized by BSF troops this morning from Ravi river near Atari border in Punjab's Amritsar district.
The Border Security Force or BSF personnel spotted an empty boat near Tota Guru post on the India-Pakistan border. However, officers said "no suspicious" item was found inside the boat.
"It is possible that this Pakistani boat had got washed away to Indian side in Ravi river along the border as it had anchor along with it." BSF Director General K K Sharma said.
Nearby fields were also searched as part of standard security procedure.
The seizure of the boat comes amid the heightened tension between India and Pakistan after the surgical strikes across Line of Control in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
