Srinagar:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's peace overture to Pakistan does not seem to have made much of a difference on the ground in Kashmir, as ceasefire violations, infiltration bids, and encounters continue unabated.
Security forces were locked in a fierce encounter with two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists at Arampora in Sopore for several hours since early Saturday morning. They have managed to kill both the terrorists, who were hiding inside a house.
Acting on specific information about presence of militants, police along with the Army launched an operation to flush out the ultras from Chinkipora, 55 kms from here, police said.
As the security forces zeroed in, militants hiding in a house opened fire which was retaliated by the security forces.
