Kolkata: Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das today requested the ABVP to ensure that the atmosphere in the varsity does not get affected by their protest rally outside the campus tomorrow.
"They can bring out a rally according to law. But from the university side, I have one request that tomorrow there are two important exams which should not get affected," Mr Das said.
The ABVP has announced that it will hold a protest rally tomorrow from Golpark to the Jadavpur university campus.
Responding to the appeal, ABVP leader Pranav Debnath said, "There is no question of us entering the university where exams will be held. Ours is a rally to protest against attack on students after the film screening on May 7."
The university witnessed fracas recently after the screening of Vivek Agnihotri-directed political film 'Buddha in a Traffic Jam' when students from the ABVP fought with activists of Left-backed student unions. A few of them had received minor injuries in the scuffle that ensued.
Following this, the university authorities lodged an FIR against some outsiders for allegedly molesting girl students.
