President Pranab Mukherjee today asked countrymen to resolve and ensure that women and girls feel safe and secure at all times.
In his message to the country on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, President Mukherjee said the festival of Rakhi stands for the eternal bond of love and trust that brothers and sisters share.
"May the Rakhi festival strengthen fraternal feelings and the spirit of oneness in our society as we strive collectively for the well-being of our people," he said.
President Mukherjee said may this unique festival inculcate the need to protect the women in our society and promote their welfare.
"Let us on this occasion resolve to ensure that the women and girls of our country feel safe and secure at all times," he said.
