EVMs fine, people don't want Congress: Narendra Modi

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Congress has left the central leadership read in the face. The BJP swept municipal elections and the state Congress is now complaining of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) being tampered.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi says they're just being poor losers.

"The PM has said that the EVMs cannot be tampered with. The Congress here is not even willing to listen to that. I want to tell the Congress leaders that there is not fault with the EVMs. The people of Gujarat have rejected them and they'd better understand that," said Modi.

On Thursday, as Gujarat went to the Panchayat polls, in a letter to the Election Commission, the Gujarat Congress said, "In a polling unit in Padra Taluka in Vadodara, even when voters pressed on the button of a Congress candidate, the light on the BJP candidate blinked."

On this specific complaint, the presiding officers replaced both the machines, and the counting went on. Analysts say, the state Congress still chooses to appear wronged, because this is only way to save face in this electoral rout.
