Thiruvananthapuram: K G Bhaskaran, the brother of former Chief Justice of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan, has resigned as Special Government Pleader in the Kerala High Court. Bhaskaran was on leave since Tuesday.
He has cited poor health as the reason for his resignation.
Bhaskaran was asked by the Kerala Advocate General to quit or go on leave for allegedly amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income.
Bhaskaran reportedly bought 60 acres of land in Dindigul in Tamil Nadu undervaluing the price. There are also reports that he and his wife are building a palatial house in Ernakulam district.
The former Chief Justice of India has been facing heat over the allegations of his brother and son-in-law amassing wealth beyond their known source of income.
Kerala's Left Front government has already ordered a probe into the assets of Balakrishnan's son-in-law PV Sreenijan, which allegedly multiplied from Rs 25,000 to many crores during Balakrishnan's tenure as CJI.
Former Supreme Court Judge Justice VR Krishna Iyer had also made some startling revelation after he said that he was approached by a judge not to take Justice Balakrishnan's kin's assets issue too far.
