New Delhi:
After it banned politicians from appearing in ads funded by taxpayers, the Supreme Court has asked the government to explain if its directive is being implemented.
In May, the top court said that neither the Centre nor state governments can squander money on promoting politicians or the schemes they have introduced. It also asked for a committee of three members to be created for executing its directions.
The court today asked the Centre to respond to a Public Interest Litigation or PIL that alleges the government is blatantly violating its order.
More details are awaited.
