New Delhi: An explosion on a public bus today in Haryana was a terror attack, sources in the union Home Ministry said. 12 people were injured when a bomb exploded in Kurukshetra, 220 km from Delhi.
Around 40 people were on the bus when the low-intensity bomb exploded. "We are still verifying the nature of the bomb," said senior police officer Simardeep Singh.
Experts from the National Investigating Agency, the country's top counter-terrorism agency, have visited the location where the bomb exploded. Sources said it is too early to shortlist terror groups who could be responsible for the attack.
The bus was isolated and combed by a bomb disposal squad near the busy National Highway 1.
A 12-volt battery was recovered from the bag in which the bomb was hidden along with some clothes.
Forensic experts have collected evidence, said the police.
