Explosives Recovered From Train Near Ranchi, 1 Arrested

The explosives include half a kilogram of RDX, a deadly explosive which has been used in terror attacks in the country, six bombs, six detonators, gelatin sticks and wires.

Ranchi: A huge consignment of explosives, including RDX, was recovered from a train near Jharkhand's capital Ranchi this evening. The train was headed from Burdwan in West Bengal to Ranchi.

One person has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

"The man arrested claimed to be a resident of Ranchi. He said he was going home. Different explosive devices have been recovered from the train. We suspect this to be a part of some plan but we have to carry out interrogations. We will get to the bottom of this," said SN Pradhan, a senior Jharkhand police officer.

The man whom the police was trying to track down was found at a railway station near Ranchi. The police was on the lookout for him since the time the train started from Burdwan district.

The explosives include half a kilogram of RDX, a deadly explosive which has been used in terror attacks in the country, six bombs, six detonators, gelatin sticks and wires. Religious literature has also been recovered.

Further investigation is on, police said.
